Adding video playlist to your Starting Soon screen and Be Right Back scenes helps provide entertainment to your viewers while they wait for you. At the time of creating this video there is no documented way of adding a video playlist to a SLOBS scene without combining all of your clips or videos into one file and then adding them as a source. So I have created this video to help my fellow StreamLabs OBS (SLOBS) users who want to add video playlist or clips to their scenes and have the option to have the playlist play the videos in a random order or loop the entire list over once it reaches the end. In this video I go over the installation of the 64 bit version of VLC (needed to add videos to SLOBS scenes), the different options for configuring the VLC media player, creating and adding playlist as a SLOBS source, and configuring the video playlist source. Be sure to check out my twitch channel to see this method in action and to also join in the fun shananagines we have during the streams. / thegigon Can download VLC media player from: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ If you like the music you hear in the background then be sure to checkout https://www.bensound.com/ for all of your royalty free music needs Script: Hello World and thanks for stopping by to watch this video In this video I’ll show you how to add video play lists to your Stream Labs OBS scenes using the VLC plugin So lets get started First thing to do is open a web browser and do a search for VLC media player installer. It should be the first option of your search results. I’ll include a link to the installer I used down below in the video info section The version I used for the making of this video is 3.0.8 To the right of the download button there is a drop down button, go ahead and click and select this Then select the option for the 64bit version installer Once the installer finishes downloading go ahead and start it up On the first menu click the OK button Then click next Then next again On the next setup page you can adjust the default settings of the VLC player by unchecking and checking the boxes Once you have made the changes you want then click the next button On the Installation location screen I would recommend leaving the default setting and click the install button When the installation is done un check the box next to run VLC media player and then click the finish button The next step is to create a folder or directory on your computer to store your videos and clips This can be created anywhere on the computer, I created mine in the video directory of my profile on the computer and called it stream clips Next move the video files you want to play on you SLOBS scene to the directory you just created Once the files are moved over start up your Stream Labs OBS application And select the scene you want to add the video play list to Then click the plus to add a new source to your scene You should now have an option for a VLC Source, select and click the add button Enter in the name you would like for this new source and click the add button On the next screen, if you want to play list to play again once it reaches the end be sure to check the box next to “loop Playlist” If you want the playlist to play the videos in a random order be sure to check the box next to Shuffle Playlist Next select what you would like to have happen when the video play list source is visible or not visible. I like to have mine pause when not visible and then unpause when visible. This way it continues where it left off when I switch scenes Now its time to create the play list, to do this click the plus sign to get a drop down menu You can add the files individually by selecting the add files option But I like to use the Add directory option so that way if I want to add more videos to the play list all I have to do is move them to the directory I created earlier. So I’m going to select that option and navigate to where I created the directory earlier in the video. Select, not open, and then click the select folder button Now click the done button and you should now have a video play list in your scene I hope this video was helpful, if so please be sure to click that thumbs up button If you want to see this video play list in action or join in on my stream shenanigans please stop by my twitch channel at twitch.tv/thegigon Thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time
