Meet our Scientist – Journey of Ben Cowling 我們的科學家 – 高本恩

Professor Benjamin Cowling, an acclaimed infectious disease epidemiologist, moved to Hong Kong in 2004 after the SARs epidemic. Recognising that infectious diseases are an ongoing threat, the HKSAR government looked into ways to strengthen capacity and preparedness to respond to future outbreaks. 15 years later, with Covid19 spreading worldwide, Prof Cowling is at the forefront of informing local and international governments and agencies on population wide measures to slow down transmission to contain the spread. His expertise and capacity continues to expand beyond influenza research into many other diseases and decision making capacities to contribute to global health security.
