🌸 The Cornflower – A Tribute to My Mother 🎼 SHEETMUSIC PLUS: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/pro... 🎼 SHEETMUSIC DIRECT: https://www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-U... My next piece of harp music is a tribute to my mother. She passed away in 2021 at the age of 86. My mother was a gentle, caring, and humble woman. I always remember her behind the sewing machine or in the kitchen, wearing her apron quiet, devoted, and full of love in the small things. She loved cornflowers and wildflowers. We would often bring her bouquets picked straight from nature — simple, spontaneous, and joyful, just like her. Her passing left a deep silence in my heart. You never stop missing your parents. In the days following her death, butterflies began appearing — in our garden, around my car. Even my neighbour noticed: “Strange... so many butterflies all of a sudden.” He is Muslim and inspired by Sufism, and he shared a quote from the poet Rumi: “Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.” My mother loved André Rieu and especially his arrangement of The Last Rose of Summer. This harp piece carries subtle hints of that melody woven throughout. I play it on my Corvin harp, handmade by German harpmaker Jonathan Dentler. In the front pillar of the harp is a mother-of-pearl button — taken from my mother’s sewing collection. Now, every time I play, she is part of the music.
