Wagner mercenaries were captured by rebel fighters in the north of Mali. An alliance of Tuareg rebels and JNIM (al-Qaida) killed around 80 Russian Wagner mercenary soldiers after ambushing their convoy. The combats happened around the village of Tinzaouatène, close to the border with Algeria. The group Wagner is now known as “Africa Corps” (like the Nazi forces in Africa) and are operating in many African countries. The Russians lost several MRAP armored vehicles and a Mi-24 helicopter. The Russian Mi-24 helicopter supporting the convoy got damaged in the ambush.
