As Lent approaches, Brazilian cities and towns transform into scenes of mass carnivals. The celebrations are similar in concept to European traditions, but, of course, louder, more colourful, and more crowded. The most famous in the world is, of course, the carnival in Rio de Janeiro. However, other cities cannot complain about the lack of interest or the banality of the costumes. In Recife, during the day you can see many people in fancy costumes, and in the evening they all become participants in a lively carnival procession.
