Chess School d4–d5 presents a chess lesson in which the coach analyzes a popular opening for White — the Bishop’s Opening. The Bishop’s Opening is a chess opening that begins with the moves 1. e2–e4 e7–e5 2. Bf1–c4. It belongs to the Open Games. This opening was already mentioned in Lucena’s treatise (15th century). White increases control over the d5 square while keeping the option to play 3.f4 or *3.c3 followed by 4.d4*. The move 2.Bc4 was recommended as the strongest by the leading player of the second half of the 18th century, *François-André Danican Philidor*. The gambit system 2…Ng8–f6 3.d2–d4 e5xd4 4.Ng1–f3 was developed by the outstanding 19th-century Russian chess player Sergey Urusov and was first used by him in *1853*.
