This is a detailed video showing how to remove and replace the torsion springs in the rear of a R107 Mercedes 280 SL. After 30 or 40 years, the ends of these springs often break meaning that the boot lid or trunk lid sags down and no longer springs up when the catch is released. The same is true of the horseshoe lid under which the soft top lives. This should spring up automatically when the catch is released but often the springs are broken and the bushings rusted. The video gives the part numbers of the springs and also shows how to manufacture your own tool to safely tension and remove the torsion the springs.
