Part 2 now out:    • MMPR Dino Megazord vs Goldar and King...   So it's no surprise that I look for episodes from new series to post on this channel every once in a while. Recently, I sourced myself some proper Zyuranger DVDs and found myself quite impressed at their quality. Sure, most of it looks like cruddy videotape footage at first glance, but a deeper look at the pixels shows a lot more detail in these episodes than even the early Heisei Ultramen shows that came years after this series. Video shot AND edited on film is truly a different beast, even when limited by the DVD medium. It's not awesome, but it's certainly something to work with. But even then, does it mean I can release it? The safest answer is naturally no; the reason why this channel contains almost exclusively Ultra Series content is not because I hate everything else with a white-hot passion, but because Tsuburaya Productions alone is the only company chill enough to let me upload its content for your viewing pleasure. Other tokusatsu giants such as Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Garo are distributed by Toei, Toei and Tohokushinsha respectively, and I've learned the hard way what happens when you try to post their content here. That being said, I have learned other things after being here a while, and here's one of them: most videos 3 minutes and below seem like fair game in YouTube. Alright, so there isn't much you can watch in 3 minutes... but what if you focused on the good parts? What if you covered a Japanese-turned-American show about costumed teenagers fighting evil aliens from very, very well-sealed dumpsters? What if that show never released any official media of good enough quality to upscale? What if a good part of it shared content with the Japanese show that did? MMPR IN HD YES PLEASE. EVEN FOR 3 MINS. So I got cracking. It took much longer than expected since I'm definitely no expert at editing, and I messed up pretty badly on several Zyu episodes by setting them to the wrong framerate, but what came out in the end was good enough for casual viewing. I might come back someday to fix the (still wrong) framerate, but for now that's a lot of episodes I have to redo just for a 3 minute clip of robotic prehistoric creatures battling giant costumed monsters. Though you may be wondering... why this episode in particular? Why not the first episode, Day of the Dumpster? Really, it's just because I enjoyed the Megazord battle here much more than the one in DotD. And most importantly, I didn't want to upscale an episode where the Megazord doesn't even use his finisher on the MOTW. ...what, there's no finisher in this video? There isn't even a Megazord in this battle? Hmm, true. But there's always more to come... Enough of my rambling. Please enjoy this 3-minute HD reconstruction of the Dinozord battle against King Sphinx and Goldar in the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers! Many thanks to the Morphylogeny site for providing information on the Zyu footage each MMPR episode took from the Zyu episodes. Seriously, I can't imagine the effort needed to comb through each individual episode to get that information. Legendary work from legendary fans.
