WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE ; BASINGSTOKE CANAL (DOGMERSFIELD)

This is another video in my series “Hampshire Walks” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I follow a peaceful canal-side walk through a quiet corner of North East Hampshire at Dogmersfield (located to the East of Fleet & not far from Junction 5 of the M3 motorway). I join the Basingstoke canal at the Barley Mow Bridge and head South along the tow path, enjoying the beautiful trees on the other side of the bank. There are so many wild flowers which attract butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. Along the path, I get to explore a WW2 pillbox before crossing over the canal at the Blacksmith's Bridge and into Dogmersfield Park. My route takes me beside the impressive Tundry Pond before joining the canal – this time heading North. At Staceys Bridge, I take a minor detour to look for an ancient boundary stone, before rejoining the canal and heading back to my starting point – finishing up at the Barley Mow Pub.
