Little known by the Western audiences, the qanun is one of the main musical instruments of the eastern countries. As for the piano which is its equivalent, many are those who plays it but few are those who master it. Our guest of the day, Souhad Najem is undoubtedly one of the great masters of qanun. This former student of the Music Institute in Baghdad, became a teacher in Iraq, Tunisia. He gives now lessons at the Arabic Culturel Center du Pays de Liège and is also the author of a book of compositions considered as reference in the teaching of qanun. Tout comme pour le piano dont il est l'équivalent chez nous, beaucoup sont ceux qui le pratique mais peu sont ceux qui le maîtrisent. L'invité du jour, Souhad Najem fait sans nul doute parti d'un de des grands maîtres du qanoun. Cet ancien élève de l'Institue des Hautes Etudes Musicales de Baghdad, devenu professeur en Iraq, en Tunisie et à présent au centre culturel arabe du Pays de Liège, est l'auteur de livre de compostions considérés comme des références dans l'enseignement du qanoun.
