Introducing Global Sound Concerts

Josh Rogosin defined the sound of NPR‘s popular music series Tiny Desk concerts, and his mixes have been heard on YouTube over a billion times. Now he has launched Global Sound Concerts with the goal of creating a platform that makes it easy for people to connect with others who share their passion for music and travel. Rogosin discovers music at the source, where musicians live and work, and learns how they are influenced by their culture. MUSICIANS André Beltrán and El Mulu play three melodic songs in the most beautiful setting in all of Mexico City: Parque Quetzalcóatl. The project by architect Javier Senosiain, is inspired by the snake and bird found on the Mexican flag. The park is a habitat that seeks to integrate humans into nature, avoiding affecting the local ecosystem. "Being from Mexico has taught me to fight for my dreams, to respect my family, everyone and everything that surround me," André explains. "Since I was a child I listened to rancheras, José Alfredo Jiménez was my hero with Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete. Since then, I try to write and sing about what I think and what I love. Yo soy de México como México es parte de mi." - André Beltrán Everything Here Is Alive (EHIA) sing in 3 languages. Each serve the setting of the desert outside San José del Cabo perfectly. The sunset and the cactus and even the mushrooms bask in the glow of this wonderfully unique music. “This land has allowed us to expand our creative womb and transmute many emotions and experiences through music. It is a land of abundance and freedom, where the desert meets the sea, which much like the creative womb contains multitudes. After living through scarcity and mirages, the ocean clears our minds and allows us to express everything here that is alive inside, around and in between us. Endless gratitude for this place for being a refuge where we can be held and feel free to simply be. For us, this manifests as our music.” - Andréanne Levasseur Pargazz is the musical duo Óscar Loredo and Carlos de Santos. We met in The Old Cemetery in Todos Santos, MX on a hot and sunny day where even my shadow couldn’t help but be featured in this video. “We are Pargazz from Mexico! Our music is gypsy jazz; It is an incredible magical experience to play inside a cemetery in Todos Santos. It was quite an experience to have recorded music as incredible as Django Reinhardt's with Josh. We are very happy, you belong to Josh's project world concerts. Thank you very much for the invitation, it was a pleasure and I hope you enjoy the music. Thank you Josh Rogosin for inviting us to be part of this wonderful project, we hope to see you again soon.” - Óscar Loredo and Carlos de Santos Santax was born and raised in Valencia, Spain where he prides himself on speaking Splanglish. We filmed in front of the most iconic building in the city - Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (Queen Sofia Palace Of The Arts) in the City of Arts and Sciences. “Living in Valencia, Spain, has deeply marked my musical trajectory. My compositions blend Spanish and English influences, reflecting the international vibe of Valencia. The city's youthful energy and dynamic spirit infuse my music with a fresh and lively feel. Valencia's stunning beaches, amazing social scene and proximity to surfing and skiing destinations are a constant source of inspiration. As someone who is passionate about life and music, Valencia constantly fuels my creativity and incites my art in countless ways.” - Javier Santacruz Alonso Ave Luz is the perfect score to the beautiful setting beneath the palms of Las Palmas beach in Baja, California Sur. The duo serenades the natural world around them with the rich sound of an acoustic guitar and stunning harmonies. It's a feast for the ears, eyes and heart. “Ave Luz begins in Baja California Sur, the sacred territory we reside in today. Her beauty nurtures and fills us with inspiration. While living here we witness the constant miracle of nature and are accompanied by many beings that we embrace as our family. Through music we express the profound and infinite gratitude we feel, offering the purest of our being in devotion to love, the great mystery of life.” - Sandra Orellana Sears I met Mexican guitarist and vocalist Shunyat at a yoga class at the bequest of Mateo Rose, audio engineer for Panteón 19 in Todos Santos, Mexico. It was a rare opportunity for me to shoot and record the concert myself in a mythical space surrounded by Yogis. Anna Castillo was kind enough to let me record her class and embark on a journey filled with beautiful music, movement and healing. “I was born in Mexico City and grew up with music all around because of my father. When i moved to Baja i discovered a new mystical air that provoked an explosion of inspiration to express truth through music. Almost all of my songs are written on ternary rhythms which i have always found very hypnotic and shamanic. The perfect vibe to communicate how i feel.” - Shunyat
