What gets kind of muddled is that the only successful whistleblower cases involve truly horrendous conduct on the part of the defendant. The types of conduct that involve ripping off the government and as a result of ripping off the government probably also involve harm to individuals or it's certainly putting individuals at risk. So, this is not about blowing the whistle on somebody taking a coffee break too long or not coming in from vacation at 9 in the morning on a Monday. This is involving conduct or people are going out of their way to rip off the government to the tune of in some cases billions of dollars and doing so knowingly and attempting to make more money and often putting things like patient care in the backseat.
