On 30 July 2025, C151 EMU 065 was sent to Beng Cheng Metal scrapyard for its official retirement. C151 [065/066] was the key train that got involved in the major East-West Line disruption in around end-September 2024. Upon its withdrawal to Ulu Pandan Depot in the morning hours of 25 September 2024, one of the axle boxes from carriage 2065 was dislodged and fell onto the tracks, causing the wheels of the bogie to slip off the running rails and hit track equipments, which included the third rail and point machines, leading to a power fault in many MRT stations. The derailment of the train caused damage to over 2 kilometres of track, which led to a six-day disruption on the East-West Line. Carriage 2065, the derailed carriage, was transported by convoy from Ulu Pandan Depot to Tuas West Depot during the late night hours of 28 September 2024. Consequently, that carriage went for heavy inspection, along with other KHI C151 trainsets, and subsequently undergo investigation. The remaining carriages of the train were laid up at Ulu Pandan Depot for nearly 10 months before making their next move. During the wee hours of 26 July 2025, the remaining five carriages of C151 [065/066] were then transferred from Ulu Pandan Depot to Tuas West Depot by an 11-car transfer. C151A [511/512] was involved in pulling the remaining five carriages of the defective train, with C151A [557/558] being the rescue train throughout the entire journey. In the evening of 30 July 2025, after many other KHI retirements earlier on that same year, C151 EMU 065 was sent out, in a quick action to close this chapter for this trainset and the East-West Line derailment of 2024. This also marks one of the fastest EMU retirements ever documented in history of Singapore's land transport network.
