In this video I demonstrate how to create a complex Flower Murrine Cane! This design starts with an encased stamen core and finishes with 6 molded glass petals. Floral murrini looks so beautiful and dimensional under encasement! They can be a bit tricky to make but with some advanced planning, working from the inside out, you can create an entire garden of different flower murrini variations to add to your beads! It is the art of creating small glass beads (and other glass elements) by melting rods of colored glass in a flame, then winding that melted glass around a steel rod (mandrel), which creates the bead hole. After the artist is finished making the bead on the mandrel, and the glass hardens back to a solid state, It is placed into a pre-heated kiln to soak for a length of time which strengthens (anneals) the glass. After the annealing process in the kiln, and the glass is cool, it is removed from the steel mandrel and a bead has been created!
