I've tried to find a way to drill accurate perpendicular, straight holes without a drill press. I came up with this easy method using a router (trimmer) and a template trim bit. I needed perfect holes for the dowels to make a coat rack. Especially useful when you need to drill holes larger than 5/8" 15mm. Smaller holes could be done with the pilot hole method using a simple drill guide. Auger bits are better for this method because of the screw at the tip follows the hole.
