Real change with money isn’t about willpower—it’s about the brain rewriting old rules. In this conversation, Rick and financial therapist Emily Shull explore how memory reconsolidation and IFS work together to transform money behavior. Emily explains the four elements of deep change and shares a powerful client story where a childhood belief about money secrecy dissolved, leading to honest communication instead of avoidance. It’s a clear, emotionally intelligent look at how understanding the brain can free us from outdated money patterns. #FinancialTherapy #MoneyAndTheBrain #MemoryReconsolidation #IFS #MoneyMindset #BehaviorChange #EmotionalHealing #MoneyPatterns #FinancialPsychology #MoneyBeliefs #InnerParts #NeuroscienceAndMoney #healingwithmoney About Emily Shull Emily Shull is a Certified Money Coach (CMC)® who uses a short-term, structured approach to help clients uncover the emotional roots of their unease with money. She specializes in working with individuals who have already done significant inner work yet still feel anxious or uncomfortable when it comes to their financial lives. Her holistic approach helps clients connect their inner world with their money world—often for the first time—creating the conditions for meaningful change. This is where clients are able to align their use of money with their values and begin creating a more intentional life. Emily’s work differs from traditional money coaching in a fundamental way: she does not focus on numbers. Instead, the emphasis is on understanding a client’s relationship with money, so they can recognize and remove—or heal—the internal obstacles that prevent them from using money in alignment with their values and intentions. Her approach also differs from therapy. While healing often occurs as part of the process, the primary focus is not treatment. Rather, Emily helps clients connect the dots between their money thoughts and behaviors and the experiences that shaped them. At times, this work reveals deeper trauma or unresolved grief that may benefit from further exploration with a licensed therapist. After completing four sessions with Emily, most clients experience one of two outcomes. Some report a greater sense of self-awareness, meaningful relief from financial stress, and the confidence to continue developing their holistic money plan independently. Others feel relief in finally understanding the origin of their discomfort with money and choose to continue their healing journey with a licensed therapist to address deeper developmental trauma or unresolved grief uncovered during the process. Emily’s work is grounded in a deep appreciation for the complexity and vulnerability of the human experience. She draws on her training as a Trauma-Informed Certified Coach and a Certified Hypnotherapist and RTT® Practitioner to support clients with insight, care, and emotional intelligence.
