Rukka Spirit-R motorcycle jacket review

The Spirit-R is a more stylish version of Rukka's longstanding Forsair jacket. It is made of a 500 denier Cordura shell infused with Elastane for stretch. In high-abrasion areas, such as the shoulders and down the arms there are panels of non-elasticated 500 denier Cordura for added protection. The jacket comes fitted with Level 1 Ghost armour in the shoulders and elbows and has a pocket for a back protector. There is currently no Level 1 Rukka back protector and their Level 2 version feels too bulky for this jacket. We would recommend a regular Level 1 D3O which still fits in the pocket well, or the forthcoming Ghost Level 1 back protector. You get two external zip pockets and two internal ones. There is some reflective banding for better nighttime visibility. Zips at the end of the cuffs; a cover to protect your tank from the zip. There are poppered flaps to adjust the fit on the hips. The jacket has a neat set of elasticated loops to allow you to fasten the jacket to a trouser belt. In addition it has a full length zip around the waist to allow you to zip to a Rukka pant (or to a Halvarssons pant or waist zip). The Spirit-R is a lovely jacket that will flow a lot of air. Not quite as much as the Forsair but still way, way more than any waterproof jacket with vents. It can still be layered up with a thermal and a waterproof so it is an ideal jacket for summer commuting and touring.
