New School Built in Ashotsk, Armenia

For decades, the high school of Ashotsk, a village in Northern Armenia near the border with Turkey, was housed in a dilapidated building that lacked essential amenities and comforts. The structure was regularly flooded during winter, and students and teachers had to endure the unbearable smoke and soot of wood heaters. All that changed in 2014, when the village celebrated the opening of its newly built school, a gift from the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s French affiliate. The new campus is a state-of-the-art facility that includes not just well-appointed classrooms, but specialized workshops and labs, complete with up-to-date technical equipment and computers. Year after year, graduates of the Ashotsk high school are admitted to Armenia’s top colleges and universities.
