I boarded the False Creek Ferry, waited for the passengers to disembark, and prepared to launch my DJI Neo 2 from the moving deck. Round One: The Crash. I started in N-mode, but the drone immediately fought the boat’s motion. Before I could react, it slammed right into the back of the ferry. Round Two: The Glory. I didn't give up. I switched to S-mode and tried again. Suddenly, the view exploded into something unreal: floating homes, water taxis, and city reflections—Vancouver unfolding beneath me in a way I’d never seen. Flying from a moving platform changes everything; the physics are a whole different game. The Final Boss: Landing. Touching down was the hardest part. I had to perfectly match the boat’s speed while fighting the wind drift and timing the descent. It wasn’t perfect—I actually crashed on the landing! But the result? No damage. Happy ending.
