Vintage Stanley Breast Drill Restoration In Todays Video I have chosen to restore a Vintage Stanley Breast Drill which was made from 1958 to 1993. It was finished in a grey Hammered paint on the body and a black enamel on the gear casing with the Stanley name running down the centre of the body. It was the most expensive model in the hand and Breast Drill range. I found this Drill laying in a bucket at my local reclamation yard and at first glance it appeared to be complete apart from the make shift handle bar. However after I started to break it down it became evident that there was quite a few missing parts, ie some locking pins, bearings and washer on the spindle and handle bar. Now I see why it was only £2. Restoration Process This Drill has had a rough life over the last few years and has been really neglected. I have tried to use a few techniques to not only remove the Rust but also prevent it coming back. I used a Bluein Gel on some of the parts this time which cut down some of my work as I'm usually fighting of flash rust all the time. I chose a Grey paint which I think is really close to the original and contrasts very well with the Gloss Black. The ending was a slight disappointment due to resting the finished parts on top of the towel. There was obviously some residue from past projects which reacted with it but unfortunatley I had already applied one sticker.
