MACKEREL MADNESS | Great Keppel Islands with Bikini Angler

SPECIES NUMBER 2 = LEGAL SPANISH MACKEREL ✔️ I was determined that I was NOT leaving Yeppoon until I caught a legal Spanish mackerel and ticked no. 2 species off my 2021 list. We fished the SCF fishing competition   / shimanokingofkings   Friday to Sunday and were able to hit the wider reefs which produced some epic reef fishing (YouTube videos to come...). Monday was the day I was going to catch my Spanish. We headed out early and spent the morning flicking lures and stick baits around some rocky headlands with good water movement and pressure edges. Unfortunately that didn't produce anything decent, so we punched out to another mark we had which we thought was the middle of nowhere...after 5 minutes it was on, mackerel after mackerel. I got my legal Spanish on my second drop, only for Sam to smash my PB and get a Spanish that was 20cm bigger. We were down to one spinning rod after I snapped my favourite rod, so we went drop for drop and had a heap of fun. That morning was definitely the perfect end to our holiday in Yeppoon and that adrenaline kept me going the for the entire 8 hours drive home to the Sunny Coast. Tackle: Reel | 1.
