These tips are perfect for guitarists looking to add dynamic flair to their electric guitar playing. First, the tip of the week focuses on achieving controlled amp feedback. If you're struggling to get that classic sustain and growl, Neil recommends physically touching the body of your electric guitar to the amplifier cabinet. The wood-on-wood contact between your guitar and amp helps the sound resonate, especially when your amp is turned up loud. This trick is essential for lead players in rock and metal styles. The lesson of the week dives into practical uses of the whammy bar. Neil demonstrates the famous dive bomb effect by plucking the low E string and dropping the bar, then shows how to reverse it by starting low and pulling the bar back up. These techniques work across all strings and can be combined with trills, harmonics, and pinch harmonics for dramatic, Eddie Van Halen–inspired effects. You’ll also learn how to use the bar subtly to create vibrato effects, adding a jazzy or ambient touch to clean tones. Neil suggests positioning the bar close to the strings to allow for quick flicks and controlled movements. With a little practice, you can master the art of tremolo bar technique and learn to shape the pitch and tone just how you imagine it. This week Neal takes a lesson request from chaos2themaxx on how to use the whammy bar. He'll give you some awesome tips on how it works and how to use it. Tip of the week is on feedback control. We have sound limitations in the studio so the feedback tip is not at full volume level and you won't hear the effect but if you follow the tip you'll be in feedback heaven! 💬 Get in touch! ► Guitar Tricks Forum: https://bit.ly/3MPTAkV ► Facebook: https://bit.ly/47zuMaf ► Instagram: https://bit.ly/3XP4SfI Guitar Tricks has helped over 4 million people learn how to play guitar since they invented online guitar lessons in 1998.
