RIP Silka November 2010 - November 23 2018 Thank you for all the viewers of this video - back in the day when YouTube did not need 4000 watch hours, your views paid for Silka's cancer removal sugery and eventual cremation. I was a very poor student back then but I was glad to have your help. This channel is about the very fun times I have with my Flemish Giant Rabbit, Silka. She's currently 9 years old. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old, 2010. She used to be so tiny, but now she weighs in at 12lb. (she used to be 16lb) She was the runt of her litter. Silka's had cancer surgery removal at 6 years old. She's moved to all the new places around Vancouver with me. She's been on a plane to visit New Brunswick (carry-on). She loves my most recent place the most. She's litter trained, and spayed. Thank you, and remember, keep binkying throughout life! ----- Yes, I use a leash/harness. Silka has been trained since she was a baby 3 1/2 years ago to use it and knows its limitations, even when running. The spot where it appears she pulls too hard is me adjusting the camera as I get up from a crouch. She stops to give me the "Keep up look". She's not harmed in this video. This isn't violent rabbit behavior, she's having fun playing with a smaller critter than her. Silka has experience with playing with black labs and other dogs, which she can keep up with. She's wonderful with other animals and small children (She will let them chase her around, and vice versa) ****Remember, not all rabbits behave this way, so please don't try this at home unless you're comfortable with doing so. ***MORE DISCLAIMER I use a large H shaped cat harness for Silka. HOWEVER, please be aware I trained her inside wearing a harness for 1 month, and then I put her outside in a playpen to train her on the leash, so if she bolted, she wouldn't bolt too far to the end of the lead and hurt her back. If a rabbit gets scared they will run to the nearest place they feel safe, and for Silka it's me, but for most other rabbits its under the nearest bush 50 feet away, which is longer than the leash, and they can break their back, or hurt themselves running so fast, and feel like they can't escape struggling to get out of the harness. Silka know's how long the end of her lead is (16ft) and will wait for me to catch up to her before walking further, so be careful, and make sure your bunny learns how long the lead is, and is comfortable with walking outside, and doesn't scare easily from garbage trucks, planes, helicopters/birds.
