Edmonds faces tough budget choices as Proposition 1 fails to secure necessary support

With the likely failure of Proposition 1, city leaders in Edmonds must now decide what cuts to make to offset a growing budget deficit. Prop 1, a $14.5 million levy lid lift on the Nov. 4 ballot, was presented to voters as a way to avoid public facility closures, staffing reductions, and ongoing deferred maintenance. The latest results showed Prop 1 failing after capturing just 41% of the votes.
