It is an expanded version of the earlier tale told by a Dubliner "Harry Clarke's unquiet grave". To find this go to: • Harry Clarke's unquiet grave: a ghost stor... The story is set in Chur (Coire), Switzerland. Harry Clarke was a famous Irish artist in the early 20th century, best known for his stained glass but also his book illustrations of Poe and other authors. A sufferer from tuberculosis, he went to Davos in the Grisons Alps seeking a cure, but on the way home to Dublin, he died in Chur on the Epiphany, January 6, 1931. As for the other characters who come into the story: Angelika Kauffmann the artist was born in Chur in 1741 and was later in London, Dublin, and Rome; Alberto Giacometti the Grisons sculptor came home to the Grisons from Paris at Christmas 1965, but died in hospital in Chur before he could travel onwards. Also encountered on the journey are Oscar Wilde, living in exile in Paris, and Robert Emmet, the patriot executed in Dublin in 1803. Also mentioned are two other literary exiles, James Joyce and Ovid. Illus.: Mountjoy Square, Dublin, photographed by Bryan Butler, CC by 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index...
