DRIFT: Tree of Ténéré in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas DRIFT has installed a permanent art piece in Deep Vellum, Dalles, Texas in 2021. The Tree of Ténéré explores the inherent connectivity of nature and technology in the form of a tree-shaped light sculpture located outdoors in the center of The Epic. Tree of Ténéré will create a unique moment in contemporary culture by synchronizing people with their environment using technology and rhythms that resonate with our natural instincts. Named after the iconic and isolated tree once located in the Sahara Desert, this second iteration of the Tree of Ténéré, curated by Goldman Global Arts and Westdale Management (the first one famously debuted at Burning Man 2017), represents the strongest symbol of life colorfully flourishing in the most difficult circumstances. Founded in 2007 by Lonneke Gordijn (1980) and Ralph Nauta (1978), DRIFT uses technology to make phenomena and hidden properties of nature visible in order to learn from them and restore our relationship with nature.
