Diagonal Lashing It is used to pull together or when the two poles tend to spring apart to each other in the cross-brace of a framework. Often the two poles form an ‘X’ and prevent a project from racking. It is also used when the angle which the poles are placed is other than 90° angle. Examples : Used in Rooftop, Towers, Bridges, etc. The Diagonal Lashing starts with a Timber Hitch Knot at the beginning and ends with Clove Hitch Knot. Procedure : 1. Tie Timber Hitch Knot at the ‘X’ formation where the two poles in a structure are apart from each other and tighten the Timber Hitch Knot. The lashing is used to bind the two apart poles to firm the structure. 2. Tighten the Timber Hitch Knot and perform the ‘Wrapping Turns’ 4 to 6 times, as shown in video and thus this process is called ‘ Wrapping’. 3. After ‘Wrapping Turns’ turn the rope to the opposite direction and make atleast 4 to 6 turns, this process is called ‘Frapping Turns’. 4. Each frapping turns must be pulled hard to tighten the wrapping part. 5. At the end of the lashing tie Clove Hitch Knot at the top part of any of the poles. 6. To secure the Clove Hitch Knot tie any one among the Stopper Knots. Note : 1. Starts with TIMBER HITCH KNOT and ends with CLOVE HITCH KNOT.
