Crystal Fountain's design story of The Apple Store, Maryah Island Abu Dhabi, UAE

It started as an email in late 2018, with the subject line codename “Splash,” a collaboration on a new Apple Store project on Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Many projects we collaborate on come with unique challenges, but this one was one of the most challenging yet. Thankfully, innovation and overcoming challenges are something we excel at delivering to our client partners. From design to mockups and defying physics, this project process is as inspirational as it is fascinating to understand what a project like this entails. The Apple Store project is an excellent example of successful collaboration between various disciplines. We worked as a design sub-consultant to Stantec and other specialty sub-consultants like Seele, PCT, and others. We collaborated directly with Apple representatives, the client Mubadala, the operator of the Galleria Mall, the lead architects Fosters and Partners, and cost consultants AECOM.
