On 10/22/2022 | was patrolling SR-166 East when I noticed a black Dodge Charger with a illegal license plate frame that allows the vehicles tag to be covered. I activated my emergency equipment in attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver slowed his vehicle waved and accelerated initiating a pursuit. The tag on the vehicle was out of (Ga-XYY650). The pursuit traveled East on SR-166 and exited onto Delowe. The driver ran the redlight and made a left turn and then an immediate left turn back onto SR-166 West. The driver continued until we reached Barge Rd. He then made a right turn traveling north. Barge meets with Fairburn Rd. and the driver made another right turn here traveling north. On Fairburn RD. I attempted to close the gap so that I could attempt a PIT on the vehicle. The driver began braking and as l approached the slowed his vehicle more than I expected causing me to rear end him, at which point I tried to position my vehicle to the right rear panel to PIT the vehicle but there was not enough roadway and cars were approaching from the opposite direction. At Fairburn and New Hahlem St, the driver was going to attempt a left turn but could not slow down. He then drove on the wrong side of the road where I was able to place my vehicle in front of his and block him. The driver put his car in reverse and so did I. He then tried to drive back forward, to end the pursuit, the safest way I pushed the vehicle from the roadway with my vehicle (Pursuit Ending Technique). At this time, I drew my service weapon and gave verbal commands. OFC. T. Griffie got out and contacted the driver while I climbed through my window and on the car so that I could assist. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. Mr. Powell (suspect) was transported to the Grady Trauma Center for minor injuries. Due to the lengthy process warrants were taken and I will follow up on a later date, to attempt to serve said warrants.
