Series 1 Episode 3 'Mom at the Bar/Train Buddy'. After Mike and Chill’s incessant arguing drives away their fifth bartender in under a month, Coach suggests that they offer the job to their mom. While Chill thinks it’s a bad idea and recalls many childhood memories as proof, Mike doesn’t agree and hires Adele. And though Adele’s presence improves business, Mike and Chill quickly realize that having their mom around makes it very hard for them to use the restaurant to meet women. Meanwhile, with Adele out of the house, Coach is free to pursue his model train hobby by rejoining an online community called the Zephyr Club. Just when Mike thinks things can’t get any worse, Adele fires their sexy young hostess and hires the high school’s matronly math teacher to replace her as she turns Trainor’s into a family restaurant. Though the place is always packed, its new elderly patrons aren’t spending any more money than their younger predecessors. As Adele continues to stock the staff with her school’s employees, the boys ask their dad to talk her into quitting. But when Coach makes clear how much he is enjoying having the house to himself, he tells his sons that if they want to fire their mother, they will have to do it themselves. Unable to stand the new situation any longer, Mike and Chill resolve to team up and fire their mom, only to lose their nerve at the last minute. However, when Adele learns that Chris, the Zephyr Club pal whom Coach is joining at a train enthusiasts’ convention, is a woman, she decides the time has come to quit bartending. And even though Adele realizes that she has nothing to worry about after learning that Chris is a lesbian, she’s none too happy when Coach reveals that the boys were about to fire her.
