In the 7th Episode of Podspective by Daayitwa Abhiyaan, we had a conversation with Dr. Sucheta Pyakuryal, Governance Director of IIDS. Throughout our discussion, we explored the historical context and transformative changes in Nepal's political landscape. Dr. Pyakuryal shed light on the status of the Bureaucratic system in Nepal. We also discussed the positive transformation brought by Federalism in the country and challenges including the need to balance power between federal and sub-federal tiers of government. Additionally, she highlighted the complexities of political party dynamics, which have contributed to struggles and shortcomings in the nation's political and economic progress. Dr. Pyakuryal shared thought-provoking insights on fostering a culture of political engagement, building a fair civil society, and emphasizing the importance of quality evidence-based research for positive transformations in governance and policy-making. . . . #Podspective #podcast #governance #Innovation #empowerment #policy #nepalese #leadershipdevelopment #challenge #nepalipodcast #Nepal #nepalnow #society #inclusion #campaign #organization #development #Daayitwa #education #Nepal #nepalese #economy #federalnepal #development #empowerment #research #policymaking #theories #politicalinclusion #governance #governmentsystem #politicalparty Timecodes: 0:00 - Introduction to Podspective 0:30 - Who is Sucheta Pyakuryal? 2:13 - Politics as Power and Governance as Management 2:51 - Journey of Delving into understanding politics and public management 6:05 - Evolution of Individual with Relation to State 9:27 - Evolution of Democracy and Political Culture in Nepal 17:13 - Lacking Political Leadership in Nepal / Nepal following the International “Political Fashion” and failing to localize / Nepalese Political Leadership failing to institutionalize Global Political Fashion 20:26 - Nepal’s Way to Economic and Market Freedom 23:04 - Institutionalizing Federalism for Inclusion and Administrative Transformation 25:11 - Accountability in Leadership 30:29 - Individual vs Institution 34:45 - Nepalese Left parties on Collectivism: Expectations vs reality 36:14 - Contradicting Ideological Orientation of Nepalese Political Parties 38:45 - Tracing the Backward Journey of Nepalese Civil Society 40:45 - Why Don't We Have a Women’s Caucus in the Nepali Parliament? 43:30 - Volunteerism vs. Incentive-Oriented Mindset 45:10 - Progress in Inclusion with Dispersion of Power through Federalism in Nepal 50:03 - Political Authority of “Neta” 54:03 - Machiavellian Practices in Nepali Politics 58:28 - Way Forward for a Better Future 1:00:26 - Youth in Nepali Politics 1:03:48 - Need for Empathy and Effective Communication within the Political Sphere 1:05:49 - Demand and Supply of Data and Evidence-Based Policy Making in Nepali Governance 1:11:22 - Are we producing Researchers or Mere Report Writers? : Reality of Research in Nepali Universities 1:13:39 - How can we prepare qualified researchers? 1:15:45 - Comparative Analysis of Governance Model with Other Countries (Bangladesh) 1:21:56 - Intersection of Inclusion and Policy Making in Nepali Bureaucracy 1:30:44 - Empathetic Allyship for Inclusion 1:33:00 - Discrimination and Evaluation System in Bureaucracy 1:38:00 - Quota System and Women’s Representation in Nepali Parliament 1:40:50 - Political Inclusion and Access to Resources 1:43:37 - Hope Lives in Humanity Special Thanks: Guest: Ms. Sucheta Pyakuryal Host: Dr. Pukar Malla Production Team - Abhiyanta Production Producer - Ms. Shuvangi Poudyal Communications and Outreach team: Ms. Sirsha Risal Ms. Ayusha Sigdel Mr. Aman Awale Ms. Tenzin Dhekhyong Kansakar Ms. Rasila Dhamala
