This presentation was delivered as part of the 2024 Global NF Conference on 21 June 2024, 10:30-12:00CET - Hosted by NF Open Science Initiative (NF-OSI) This 90-minute workshop offered participants hands-on experience in data curation, focusing on utilizing large language models, like ChatGPT, to enhance the process. During the session, attendees curated data from scientific articles using the NF Tools Database. Large language models will extract key information critical to NF research, including observations on animal models and cell lines. This session is designed for individuals across all levels of expertise who are interested in exploring data curation practices and the application of large language models in research contexts. Training will utilize the NF Tools Database as a key example and provide comprehensive insights and opportunities for skill development. The NF Open Science Initiative (NF-OSI) aims to fast-track neurofibromatosis (NF) research by promoting open-science and data sharing. This initiative is a collaborative effort among various NF-oriented foundations, programs, clinicians, and researchers. NF-OSI has developed and manages the Neurofibromatosis (NF) Data Portal, a dedicated platform for NF researchers to exchange, discover, and utilize existing research data and information about scientific tools. ______ About NF NF refers to genetic conditions that cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. NF includes all forms of neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis and affects about 4 million people worldwide. Anyone can be born with NF, and it affects everyone differently. There is no cure yet. The Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) began as the first grassroots organization solely dedicated to finding treatments for NF.
