Today @CheeseheadMotors presents this photo tour of the @reoldstransportationmuseum4750in Lansing, Michigan to commemorates the 25th anniversary of General Motors announcement on December 12, 2000 that Oldsmobile production would cease more than 90 years after merging with GM on November 12, 1908. The last Oldsmobile (an Intrigue sedan) was produced on April 29, 2004 at the Lansing Car Assembly plant in Michigan. Oldsmobile produced over 35 million vehicles during its 107 year history beginning with the company’s formation by Ransom E. Olds in August 1897. The R.E. Olds Museum in Lansing includes rare examples of pre-1900 vehicles, the iconic 1903 Oldsmobile Curved Dash Runabout, 1950s era Rocket 88 (considered by some to be the first American muscle car), a 1969 Hurst/Olds, and a 1987 Oldsmobile Aerotek speed record car. The Aerotek was powered by an Oldsmobile Quad 4 engine equipped with twin-turbochargers and set a course record speed of 257.123 mph on August 27, 1987 at the Fort Stockton test track driven by Indy 500 winning driver A.J. Foyt (the outright top speed was 267.88 mph). We salute the longevity and myriad contributions that Oldsmobile made to the American automotive industry. #oldsmobile #generalmotors #classiccars #classiccarlovers #carmuseum .
