2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Premium 2.0 Hybrid - Interior and Exterior Walkaround 4K. Subscribe for more. Special thanks to: / toyota_lviv_diamant The Toyota Corolla first made its U.S. debut in 1968, quickly building a reputation for dependability and efficiency that still defines the name today. The Corolla Cross brings those familiar Corolla qualities into the subcompact SUV segment. Much like its sedan sibling, the Cross delivers solid value, but it doesn’t exactly inspire when it comes to performance or driving excitement. Its 169-hp four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission produces rather sluggish acceleration. Inside, the design is straightforward and practical, with little emphasis on flair. What the Cross offers over the Corolla sedan and hatchback is extra cargo capacity and the option of all-wheel drive—making it a sensible, no-nonsense transportation choice in SUV form. For buyers seeking more power and better efficiency, the Corolla Cross Hybrid (reviewed separately) stands out as a much livelier and more economical option. Pricing for the 2025 Corolla Cross ranges from $25,585 to $29,810, depending on trim level and selected features. Buyers can choose between a conventional gasoline setup or a hybrid system, but this review focuses on the standard gas version. It uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, connected to a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive can be added for extra traction. Power delivery is adequate for everyday driving, though the engine sounds harsh when pushed and never feels particularly eager. Still, the ride quality is smooth and comfortable, which many will appreciate. In performance testing, the all-wheel-drive Corolla Cross reached 60 mph in a leisurely 9.2 seconds. EPA ratings estimate fuel economy at 31 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, with all-wheel drive versions slightly lower at 29 and 31 mpg. In a 75-mph highway test, the AWD model returned 30 mpg—just 1 mpg shy of its official estimate. If you’re familiar with the Corolla sedan or hatchback, the Corolla Cross’s interior will feel immediately recognizable. The cabin mirrors the layout, materials, and tech features of its smaller siblings. Rear-seat space is marginally greater than in the hatchback (and about equal to the sedan), while cargo capacity increases by more than 12 cubic feet. Lower trims are fairly basic, but the XLE variant steps things up with attractive faux-leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped gear shifter, and a fold-down center armrest for back-seat passengers.
