Chasing Waterfalls & Coastal Textures | Stocking Creek Falls & Duke Point Photography Join Brian Barnham and me for a full day of landscape photography as we explore two stunning locations on Vancouver Island – Stocking Creek Falls in Ladysmith and the surreal rock formations of Duke Point. Stocking Creek Falls – Finding the Perfect Foreground When I arrived at Stocking Creek Falls, I thought my day was over before it started – the main trail seemed blocked off. But after some scouting, I found a way down to the base of the falls. The biggest challenge? Finding a strong foreground adds depth and leads the viewer’s eye into the scene. After experimenting with different angles and elements, I finally landed on a composition that worked. Duke Point – Abstract Rock Patterns Later in the day, we headed to Duke Point, a rugged stretch of coastline with some of the most unique rock formations I’ve ever seen. The patterns in the sandstone were almost alien-like, shaped by wind and waves over thousands of years. It was a completely different challenge from the falls—all about textures. This video is packed with behind-the-scenes photography, composition struggles, and the process of crafting compelling images in diverse environments. 📸 Have you ever photographed waterfalls or abstract coastal scenes?
