Hispanic Heritage Month officially kicked off its celebrations on Thursday, Sept. 15, and lasts through Oct. 15 as a way to highlight the histories, contributions and communities of those with Hispanic or Latino roots. President Biden issued a proclamation on National Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 14, a typical presidential practice each year. "This month, we carry on the important work of honoring Hispanic heritage. "Biden said in the proclamation. "We also acknowledge the Hispanic leaders who have stayed in the struggle for equal justice to ensure that everyone in this nation can contribute their talents and have the opportunity to thrive."
