Since I tried a Schecter Omen Extreme 7, I fell in love with 7 string guitars. But there aren't so many models around. I don't like the longer scales. I want EMGs, which require a special cavity. I want metal sound with traditional looks, instead of yje satanist gothic design. Something like a Les Paul. Beggars not choosers... aren't they? I ended up customizing a Cort EVL-Z47. It's affordable, has cavities for EMGs and a 25.5" scale, and it has a single cutaway. First of all, I changed the passive EMGs for EMG 81-7 at the bridge and EMG 707 at the neck. Later I swapped that for the splittable 707TW. The EVL series Cort guitars feature a matte black finish and black magic pentagram inlays in the fretboard. I did not like the black magic appearance. So I asked my little kids to decorate the guitar for my performance in our kindergarten. We covered the top of the guitar with colorful funny stickers. But it just didn't work... :D Then I found a guy who could do a gloassy transparent finish, with a touch of sunburst and binding around the top and the neck. He did and awesome job, and after I applied Les Paul style inlay stickers, nice top hat knobs, the guitar looks amazing. The audio track features the Zoom G3 multieffect. Most stuff was played with the EMG 81-7. The base line is with the EMG 707TW split, with an octave down effect. The 707TW has really nice cleans, I especially like its single coil sound. Thanks for Norbi for the great finish.
