In 2021, the project smartBRIDGE Hamburg has been selected as a finalist for a buildingSMART Award in the category of asset management. In this video we show you how we realised an openBIM based digital Twin for bridge maintenance and which role BIM and openBIM played in the project. The project smartBRIDGE shows on the demonstrator of the Köhlbrand bridge, which steps are necessary for the transition from a reactive to a predictive maintenance. It shows also, how the building Information Model can be complemented by real time data related to bridge condition and IoT, in order to be used in the operational phase of the bridge. The project proves how important the openBIM idea is in order to reach open and interoperable processes and allow the scalability of the concept. The here presented digital twin concept for the maintenance of a bridge is also transferable to other assets, making smartBRIDGE Hamburg a global reference.
