SOLO BIKEPACKING: NYC to Montreal

I recently got laid off from work and had 2 weddings to attend in the North East. They were a week apart from one another so I decided to make a journey out of my time on the East Coast by biking up to Montreal. I was originally bummed to be missing Bike Kill but then heard they moved it up a week early, which worked out perfectly for my timeframe! I wasn't anticipating seeing the fall colors but was pleasantly surprised to be constantly surrounded by the beautiful colors. I would absolutely recommend anyone embark on this journey, taking it at your own pace. Due to my time constraint, and inspiration from Jenna, I pushed myself to do it in 4 days which called for big days (Averaging 100 miles a day). Luckily there are no major mountains to climb but it still is tough due to the time in the saddle. Although it wasn't the way I went you could take The Empire State Trail, old rail trail, all the way to Montreal. However, be warned that the final stretch (~30 miles) before the Canadian border is on a highway with a super small shoulder. Montreal is a dope place and I am looking forward to going back with more time to ride around! If you have any questions about the route, please reach out!
