In this video essay, I explore the moment my body forced me to stop, and how that breakdown became the beginning of a completely different way of living, parenting, and leading. What began as a panic attack became an initiation into something I had spent years overlooking: that presence doesn’t come from thinking harder, trying more, or knowing the right strategies. It comes from embodiment. I share how fatherhood revealed the limits of intellectual understanding, why children don’t respond to our intentions but to our state, and how learning to regulate my nervous system changed the way I show up with my son, my partner, and myself. This is a reflection on the masculine disconnection so many men carry, the cultural patterns that reward pushing through at the cost of feeling, and why embodiment is not a luxury for fathers, but the infrastructure of secure attachment. I also offer a simple, practical framework for beginning this work: slowing down, noticing, and attending, along with a brief daily check-in that can be woven into real life, not added on top of it. For every father who feels capable on the outside but dysregulated on the inside, this is for you. For every man sensing that presence begins deeper than the mind, this is an invitation. Because our children don’t learn from what we say. They learn from how we are. — “The Embodied Father: How Coming Back to Your Body Makes You a Better Dad” — 🔗 Full article here: https://bit.ly/49dizcw 👉 Subscribe for more reflections on fatherhood, presence, and men’s work. 🌐 Explore “The Art of Fatherhood” program and the Zen Fatherhood community at https://zenfatherhood.com #zenfatherhood #theartoffatherhood #embodiedfatherhood #presentfatherhood #menswork #nervoussystem #fatherhoodjourney #consciousfatherhood
