Exploring fine Beaujolais Cru wine and visiting France Passion hosts at the same time in the camper*

And now to something completely different. For the first time, ever, we visit the Beaujolais wine region in our camper. We taste the wine, which turns out to be much, much better than the unfair rumour it has from the old Beaujolais Noveau times. The main grape variety is Gamay, and we were so positively surprised. Of course, many of the wine growers have done a hard job, changing from quantity to quality, changing pruning methods and cellaring philosophies. But the result is nothing less than fabulous. We are already planning our next trip to Beaujolais this year (2024). These first days, we visit Domaine Matray in the Juliénas area and Domaine Baron de l’Ecluse in Côte de Brouilly. Both are in Beaujolais Cru areas and both make fantastic terroir wine makers. And, by both of the winemakers, we could stay in our camper, because they are also France Passion hosts.
