How to mod your SSD!

If you're interested in following me further, feel free to check out my gaming channel:    / @lamentersgaol   In this video I dismantle a nice looking RGB SSD to see how it works, and try to make a normal boring looking SSD more like it. A solid state drive is a very simple piece of hardware, and there's hardly any risk at all of doing something fun to them like I do in this video. Just don't cut into the actual pcb, because that would be bad. I figure this kind of mod is more for those people who want to make their showcase or competition build a little more interesting and unique, as I don't really see modded SSDs very often at all. It's a small detail that would probably make you stand out nicely :) To dismantle the plastic case of the drive I used a flat head screwdriver, but a dedicated pry tool would be easier. I then used a dremel and a scroll saw to cut designs and windows into the plastic, and some backlit 3mm acrylic to make the designs stand out a bit. The LED I used is just a generic RGB one I got off of Amazon. You can either solder an RGB wire to it, or you can use a single colored LED strip with only two contacts and use a clip on wire. (the single colored clip on wires are thinner, and so can fit inside the SSD case) I'll link everything I'm talking about below. In all, this type of mod is very simple.
