I bought the laptop battery for $9 from eBay. which had 8 cells in it. only used 4 cells and a balancing cable cost 50 cents for this conversion. Total cost about $5. I used only 4 Cells since each cell was about 2000mah. which is pretty good. since these are sony cells. buying tip: when you are buying a laptop battery from ebay. don't buy a new battery. new batteries by chinese seller have cheap low capacity batteries in it. even when they claim it more. i once bought a 7800mah battery. upon checking it. it was only 1800mah when three in parallel. means each battery was only 600mah. which was a real disappointment. always buy a used battery and pay attention to the picture. see if battery picture says that its made in japan or cells are made in japan that will be a true capacity battery. since its used and probably shipped originally with the laptop. that means original laptop manufacturer would not buy fake batteries but it most likely a real capacity battery. there might be some bad cells in a used battery. which can be revived with xtar mc1 plus charger. which i already reviewed. last but not least thats why i bought a used made in japan battery. luckily all cells were good and they are made in japan sony cell.
