Lost Narragansett, Rhode Island a short video film by Jéanpaul Ferro Beautiful Narragansett, Rhode Island rests at the western entrance of Narragansett Bay some twenty miles south of the capital city Providence and approximately 15 miles from Newport across the bay over on Aquidneck Island. Once a thieving summer resort for families from Philadelphia, New York, and New Jersey, Narragansett once was home to 12 Grand Hotels that sat right up snug on the seashore of Narragansett Beach and Pier. Today the vibrant town is still a summer resort that also has a vibrant fishing industry, numerous beautiful beaches, and the breathtaking Pettaquamscutt River (Narrow River). In popular culture, Narragansett is known as one of the great New England surfing towns with a thriving surfing venue at Narragansett Beach that also has several German U-boats sunk right off the coast that remain there to this day. It was also featured in the iconic 1973 movie, The Sting, featuring Paul Newman and Robert Redford; the location of several episodes of Seth MacFarlane's The Family Guy; and as a location in Rhode Island's own Farrelly brothers 2000 movie Me, Myself & Irene, starring Jim Carrey. Narragansett has also been the location of many a summer novel. I hope you enjoy this video of what once was and of what is one of the most beautiful towns in all of New England. --Jéanpaul Video by Jéanpaul Ferro Born in Scituate, Rhode Island, Jéanpaul Ferro is a 10-time Pushcart Prize nominee.
