Women in the Jaws of War:Swaida as a Case Study (נשים במלתעות המלחמה: סווידא כמקרה בוחן ) is a panel discussion addressing the multilayered vulnerability of women belonging to minority groups during armed conflicts, focusing on the recent events in Swaida as a Case Study. The panel first address the geopolitical landscape in Swaida and the unique vulnerabilities of women from minority groups, especially in light of examples from recent history. Following, hear first-hand testimonies from Swaida (and beyond), as well as a larger scale patterns of harms, vulnerabilities, and their implications. The panel was co-organized by The Sophie Davis Forum on Gender, Conflict Resolution & Peace, and the Gender Section of the Israeli Sociology Association. It took place on August 28, 2025, mostly in Hebrew, with English subtitles. Please note that from technical reasons, the translation of the Arabic section follows the PPT presentation.
