Two powerplay goals in the third period made sure of the points as Braehead Clan got the better of Dundee Stars in a 4-2 victory. The result, while doesn’t move the Clan any higher in the standings, makes it six wins in a row at home. There wasn’t much to choose between the teams as they came in without a goal after a keenly fought opening period. Ben Davies was denied by Stars’ new goalie Trevor Koenig in an odd man rush before Travis Fullerton made an amazing stop to deny Mikael Lidhammar down the other end. The deadlock was finally broken in the second when Justin Faryna got a second bite as his initial chance was stopped by Fullerton at the near post, before the Dundee man tucked it away. Clan drew level when Tristan Harper was impeded on his way to goal, with referee Rab Cowan awarding a penalty shot. Harper was coolness personified as he beat the veteran Stars goalie and the home crowd were soon cheering. Marc Lefebvre’s side restored their advantage shortly after when Brett Switzer found his way to goal and the home side were behind at the second break. Davies regained parity for the Clan early in the third when his net bursting shot from the inside left had Koenig well beaten. Then the home side took the lead as a Ric Jackman slapshot was too hot to handle for the Stars nettie and Clan were in front. Scott Aarssen finished the job off with another powerful effort as the men in purple took the points in the league and the Gardiner Conference.
