The implant itself is placed directly on the bone. So this is a boney augmentation. The implant itself is placed underneath the periosteum which covers the bone and that’s like a little pocket, and it holds the implant in place. These are placed for patients who have a weak and recessive chin profile and the augmentation mostly occurs in the forward direction, this way. They get some lateral width improvement because it's a wrap-around style chin implant. And they get a small amount of vertical height to lengthen the lower chin. If you're only performing a chin implant, we can do that under local anesthesia, you don't have to be asleep for that. Unless you want to be. But we can just numb up the chin and place them.
