Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway | Mt Charleston Wilderness | Spring Mountains, Nevada | Visit https://lasvegasareatrails.com/spring... | It was windy and a bit cloudy on this day, some distant thunder, but I think this quick tour captures the important features of The Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway. Between morning, when I took the picture for the video cover, and the afternoon, when I stopped by the Visitor Gateway, the weather had degenerated somewhat. Rapid, dramatic weather changes in The Spring Mountains! After seven years exploring The Spring Mountains, nearly 100 adventures, passing by the Visitor Gateway each time, I finally decided to drop in and take a look around. Wow! I wish I’d made this my first stop 7 years ago! A couple of hours there would have added to the experience of every adventure. Don’t make my mistake. Stop in and spend a couple hours learning about The Spring Mountains and developing your strategy for exploration BEFORE you head up into the mountains. You’ll find information, ideas and inspiration as you’re planning your first adventure in The Mt. Charleston Wilderness. The Gateway is located at the traffic circle on Kyle Canyon Road below Charleston Village. Watch for it on the left (South) side of the road. If you get to the intersection of Kyle Canyon Road and Deer Creek Road you’ve gone too far! The Visitor Gateway is open 9am-4pm, except for some holidays and during major weather events. View an updated event calendar for the Visitor Gateway here: https://www.gomtcharleston.com/event-... The Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway is in an area that was once a golf course. Looking down into the wash behind the Visitor Gateway, you might be able to pick out a network of asphalt pathways that would have been originally built for golf carts. Because of this, the Visitor Gateway is somewhat of a sprawling complex. Trails accessed from The Visitor Gateway include The Escarpment Trail which loops around the Escarpment cliffs behind The Visitor Gateway; and The Acastus Trail, an interpretive walk between The Visitor Gateway and The Fletcher Canyon Trailhead area. Why stop at The Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway? It’s a great information hub with interpretive displays, movies, literature, helpful park rangers, live presentations, and guided walks. Also, part of the complex is an Education building, picnic areas, two amphitheaters and the 1955 C-54 air crash memorial. Stop in and enjoy an incredible introduction to The Mt. Charleston Wilderness and the Spring Mountains!
