About This Story : #kerala #keralanews #viralvideo #news #crime A tragic case from Kerala has ignited a fierce debate on social media justice and its devastating consequences. Police have now booked a 35-year-old woman for abetment to suicide after a 42-year-old man allegedly took his own life when a video accusing him of sexual harassment went viral online. Deepak, a textile firm employee from Kozhikode, was found hanging in his room on Sunday. Investigators say he had been under severe distress after a woman he had shared a crowded bus with posted a video on Instagram accusing him of inappropriate behaviour during the journey. The clip, recorded on a packed bus to Kannur, showed the man’s elbow brushing against the woman’s chest — an act many viewers dismissed as accidental in a crowded space. The woman, however, stood by her claim, calling it a “sexual boundary violation.” Initially treated as an unnatural death, the case took a dramatic turn after Deepak’s family filed a complaint, prompting police to register a fresh case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for abetment to suicide. The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has now stepped in, ordering a high-level police probe and seeking a report within a week. This heartbreaking story raises urgent questions: Where does accountability lie in the age of viral accusations? And how do we balance the right to speak out with the irreversible cost of online trials?
