“Our Story: The Queen Conch Lab” Megan Davis, Ph.D., Research Professor About the Lecture: Davis and her team will share with you "Our Story: The Queen Conch Lab". This multi-media presentation will give you a deep understanding as to why the Queen Conch Lab is on a mission to save the queen of the sea for the sake of the species, seagrass ecosystem, and people. Their vision is to have a conch farm in every Caribbean nation to help with region-wide restoration and conservation. They currently have partnership, community-based mobile lab and/or stationary lab hatcheries in Puerto Rico, three places in The Bahamas, Jamaica and Curacao with additional labs for Turks and Caicos and St. Vincent and the Grenadines in discussion. The life stages of the conch will be described and their community network that brings fishers, students, scientists and residents together across the Caribbean will be highlighted. A short film about the conch and its environment will be premiered and the presentation will conclude with conch shell music performed by a special guest.
